The Jobs For Life Partnership, is a community-based coalition of human service providers who are committed to securing career employment opportunity for Chelsea youth. The Partnership is endeavoring to implement full-year job training and placement services that will expand on the concept conducted by the group during the 2007 Chelsea Summer Jobs Program.
The Lewis H. Latimer Society, Inc.; LARE Training Center, Community Action Programs Inter-City, Inc. (CAPIC) and the Chelsea Housing Authority formed this coalition to examine methods to improve employability of Chelsea youth. This concept seeks to fundamentally change the infrastructure of support available to school aged children and their families, with the central goal of student academic and career success, supported by improvements in health and social competence. Enhanced education in the math and science area leads to an improved employment pool, which in turn leads to greater opportunity for both youth and employers.
The first annual breakfast will provide an opportunity for the Partnership to show appreciation to those local businesses and Foundations who have supported the program. The breakfast will also be an opportunity for those interested to play a more active role through participation in future roundtable discussions.
